I looked in the regs for Zone 15 but could not figure out when the trout season opens. The general rule is Jan 1-Sept 30. I know that is not correct for algon but I don't see where the exception is noted. thx for your help

Waterbody exceptions Algonquin Park
Live fish may not be used as bait or possessed for use as bait Dip nets and baitfish traps may not be used to harvest baitfish Fish sanctuary - no fishing from January 1 to Friday before fourth Saturday in April and December 1 to December 31
It's the first item under "Waterbody exceptions".
Might be moot though as I just heard all Provincial Parks are to be closed until the 30th of April due to the coronavirus.

The offices and buildings will be shut down,... I think they should allow free day use of trails and access points. I hope they let people park for free. Wonder if the winter gates will stay up? There are cottagers in the park who need access to their cottages... so there will be access in places. This could mean the Spring road maintenance could be thwarted as well... like the road to Achray and Traverse.

Why block the canoe access pts----many are looking for clean healthy fun during these desperate times. There is very little maint done at the campsites anyway. If a tree has blown over a port most people will just deal with it.

"As COVID-19 continues to quickly evolve, we want to ensure public safety and the well-being of our visitors and staff in Ontario's provincial parks. In order to assist the province with its efforts to keep Ontarians safe during this time, all provincial parks will be closed to the public from March 19, 2020 until April 30, 2020. This includes car camping, backcountry camping, roofed accommodations, day use opportunities and all public buildings."

Not saying this is right or wrong but my understanding is that with the parks and other outdoor recreation things like snowmobiling (OFSC closed all the trails - including northern ontario where still trails would be open), because COVID-19 strategies are to keep people from travelling...that includes people travelling from the GTA and going to central or northern ONtario...stopping at gas stations, convenience stores etc etc. ON the surface, these activities should be supported and encouraged as it keeps people active, good for mental well being while keeping people generally separated. However, too many people are not taking appropriate precautions and it is better people do not travel in general. Will not stop cottagers..etc who do not rely on parks etc, but it helps. I guess.
Anyhow, that seems to be the rationale as I understand it.
