So just returned from SSIC, spent Feb 7-9 on the ice with hosts Garnet and Cara-Lee, what a fantastic operation. I was worried with the dropping temp (-27) saturday that the bite would turn off but I was wrong.
Our group landed 40ish eyes over the course of the weekend including 6, yes 6 that were above the slot. In addition we had a bunch of perch and a bonus burbot to add to the fish fry!
Can’t say enough about SSIC nice warm bungalows and we were checked on for all our needs 3 times a day. We’ve already booked for next year.

Right on. Sounds like an awesome trip. The burbot makes a fish fry. Caught a couple earlier in the week up there. It's was the first time trying burbot, loved it.

My first time sampling also, SO GOOD! I was surprised they are interesting and relatively easy to clean

Our group had another fun time at SSIC . Friday was cold with temps around minus 35 with wind chill but still iced one walleye just short of a keeper and 11 perch . The wind picked up over night with whiteout conditions on saturday . We were marking lots of fish but the bite was off . Iced one undersized walleye and 10 perch . Lots of laughs and drinks . Booked again for next year .

Not the best weather conditions for up there, hope you managed a fish fry with the perch you caught. Good to hear the laughs and drinks were good but aren't they always

Yes FatRap we did have a perch fry . One condo not far away iced five keepers on Friday , so we were told . Green was the go to colour of lures and jigs . Two hardcore fishermen fished outside all day saturday, at times we could not see them for the blowing snow but each to their own . I give them credit considering the conditions . This year we took a turkey fryer and did ten lbs of chicken wings , french fries and perch for saturday nights supper . Not much to clean up and is on the menu for next year.
