Absolutely beautiful day weather wise and decided to get out for some perch fishing. Headed out to a spot I had some success in previous years. To my surprise the walk out wasn't too bad, considering the heavy snow squalls we had on Friday. Line down just before 8 am and first perch was topside within minutes. Not a bad start. Marked quite a few fish throughout the day, but only about 50% were willing to bite. Excitement of the day was when the pike moved in. I only had my perching gear, and the gators were challenging to land. Had 4 pike on and landed 2.

Ending up taking a few jumbo perch home for a meal..

All in all, it was great to get out..

Until next time, cheers & happy fishing!

Very nice. Was this on Cooch or Simcoe? I usually get a better pike bite on Cooch.

Glad to see you got to take advantage of the beautiful Sunday we got. Congrates on the fish. Around noon I was definitely regretting not heading out in the morning.

Fighting pike on perch gear is always a good way to get your heart racing! Nice fish! If you were on Simcoe were you on the west side? Going out tomorrow and hoping the wind blew some of the snow to the east, the temps today melt some of it and the temps tonight freeze it all up That's a big wish list but we will see.

Perch

Nice catch there Metalbuckle. That pic with the Perch I had to glance twice thought it was on the ice with a 2 inch hole.
