Went out on a Haliburton lake today for a fish. I have been wanting to fish this particular spot for 20 years but it’s a long walk. Today my buddy loaned me a sled for myself and a friend to hit the area.

We caught Perch and had a ton of marks mid day. We left had dinner and went back for the evening fish. 35 mins and we both had success. Pics will tell the story.

#1 & 2 Cutbow

#3 & 4 Walleye.

Awesome fishing Disco! I've gotten my butt handed to me this season between work and fishing results, nice to see some people have been doing super well!

Wow---a great day out indeed. Is 'cutbow' a type of rainbow?

A cutbow is a western fish, a cross between a rainbow and a cutthroat. A cutbow has a stand-alone red slash on its jawline like a cutthroat and typically white tipped fins. The coloring can look just like a rainbow but the distinctive red slash it what makes it a cutbow.

Cutbow - note the red splash on the lower jawline

Spectacular looking fish Disco. Nice nice late season fishing. To say I am jealous is an understatement.

The cutbows in my area are stocked fish. They are not stocked into the lake I fish but they do have access via rivers and a few get into other lakes around that way.

A pic of the red slashes we see on our cut bows in the area is attached below.
