Some solid answers here..

I run charters and we were shut down along with marinas a couple of weeks ago

Fishing refers to commercial

Recreational fishing although in itself seems harmless has some other factors coming into play.....buying gas, snacks that type of thing

We are supposed to stay home.....It's the only way to beat this

For those ignoring all this, you are part of the problem and will just make it last longer and or soon see a full lockdown come into play , military included

Stay home except for absolute essentials, ie groceries

QUOTE (mydogbites @ Mar 31, 2020 - 03:13 pm)
Well said Steve, I really want to get out, I even installed the buddy heater to keep the wife warm but the fact is I have come to my senses. There is just to much to risk for a fish. I've got food and everything else I need and going fishing was just for the fun of it. Perhaps my perspective has changed from the time I uncovered the boat. Now I am faced with my mother who lives in a retirement home indicating they have loss three people, one which was her friend and ate together each day at the same table. Or maybe it's my son a paramedic who is just coming out of self isolation, or our daughter in law a Doctors assisstant who has just gone into isolation. So for now I'm not going out, perhaps I'll just bindge watch episodes of swamp people, mountain men, yukons trappers, moonshiners or North woods law. Ive already been threatoned not to practice my turkey calls anymore.
I can't tell you what to do, but for me I'm part of the solution

Good post, MDB. IMO you are doing the right thing

What a difference a body of water makes. I just received my email update from the NY state wildlife folks about the new fishing regs and revised website. They don't have the same restrictions there. As a matter of fact, the email encouraged anglers to enjoy the fishing season as long as they practice social distancing. No mention of only venturing out for absolute necessities (food, medical, etc.).

I just finished recharging all of my batteries and I'll be changing my prop to a new 4-blade to aid in my hole shot this season. All I would need to do is back up the truck to the trailer. But I came to my senses as well a couple of days ago and the boat won't be moving any time soon. As much as I love fishing, I also love being healthy and doing my part to keep everyone else healthy as well.

Including the one at Caesarea? I was there not long ago and there were 6 boat trailers parked there.

There are way too many “what if” scenarios out there that are being put upon someone that wants to go fishing that can be easily substituted with doing something essential or even someone staying home. Anything can happen at any time.

Crystal beach just put barricades across the ramp and closed it.

And I’m guessing that would be the reason why

my boat is on my boat lift on my property. You're telling me I can't walk down to my dock and lower my boat into the water?

I think what's being said is if you live there and your boat is already in the water (or on a hoist), then go boating. If you have to drive to the boat or tow it, you're most likely going to stop somewhere along the way (food, snacks, fuel, whatever), then stay at home. That's exposure....either for you and your family or someone else if you have the virus and don't even know it yet. No one is going to fuss about you walking out your back door into the boat, unless you have to drive to get to that back door.

I really thought this group would of been a little more woke then this.

I have been around long enough to know when something doesn't add up.

Let me fill you guys in on a few things;

I fished last saturday and sunday, lake ontario. OPP pulled me over on the water, checked my gear/licenses, asked what i was using and what i caught. I asked about being allowed to fish, their reply " absolutely your aloud if you are following regulations and social distancing".

My gf works for Halton region police, her words last night, zero directives to close fishing, zero desire to hassle fisherman, unless loaded 4 guys in a boat.

I leave my home, see noone, launch my boat see noone, load my boat alone, and head home.

This shutdown is absolutely ridiculous. 450 deaths across canada? 8511 deaths to flu in 2018? Not a whisper about it. False testing, inaccurate testing. The numbers are fake, my uncle passed last Tuesday, 89 years old, cancer the last 19 months, was given a year to live. He passed on Tuesday, labelled a Covid death, we asked for the test results....were told he wasn't tested. I don't believe the current narrative.

If anyone follows politics, they would know there is a greater game happening here.

Ill keep fishing thank you, and if anyone has a problem with that, i will graciously say, look after your own house, and ill look after mine. There are private launches still open starving for business. I will support them. Our govt is not looking after our best interests here.

I will keep my distance from folks, what i will not do is lock myself inside indefinitely. I hope this doesn't offend anyone. BTW i boated 5 lakers and a Coho last saturday.

Interesting info, if it is true....
How do you fish LO if all boat launches are closed?
As for conspiracy theories - yes, we heard them all...

You are not impressed with 450 deaths? Look no further than Italy, Spain and NY. They just don't want to follow this...
I personally have very little concern about COV19. But this is the situation were my personal values and interests differ from those of social. Same as you.
Everyone has to make their own choice.... egoistic or socialistic...

Once again, we see the "justifiers"

This is going to last a lot longer than most realize, months if not years...

We have an opportunity to catch up with it to minimize loss of lives, that's what is trying to be done

Do I agree with all government actions to date.....no

Too many half measures and way too little testing especially in Ontario....not surprised at that

But I have 2 family members working in health care and they sure as hell can't go fishing because they are exhausted already, not to mention being at high risk.

I cannot tell anyone what to do, I can only suggest

You can call it a hoax all you want, but in order to beat this we need to do our part and it's clearly outlined daily

To all the self servers, I say shame on you
