Hey all,
I recently went on a trip and used leeches for the first time. I also had minnows and nightcrawlers on this trip, but it seemed leeches were the only thing that produced. I know its fishing and every time is different, but I'm a true believer on the effectiveness of leeches.
Down side, I paid 14 bucks for a dozen leeches. Ill pony up the cash when things are effective, but I've always caught my own nightcrawlers and actually really enjoy it. And if I can save the the cash if I start using leeched more, it wouldn't hurt.
I checked out a video from Clayton Schick and tried the "pie plate method " at my irrigation pond (where I'm confident there's leeches because I'd have them on me if I went swimming there as a kid) and didn't catch a thing. I baited 5 traps with chicken livers and pretty much followed the video.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Besides going for swim and then plucking them off.

I wouldn't advertise baiting 5 traps, • Only one leech trap no more than 45 cm in any dimension can be used day or night to capture leeches. Leech traps must be clearly marked with the licence holder’s name.

I had no idea about the number of traps. In the video I watched, he just set a bunch, so I assumed the number of traps didn't matter. Didn't make a difference in my case anyways I guess. Ill try the beef liver. I did leave them over night and checked in early morning. But ill try it again with the beef liver. Thanks
