Are we legally allowed? Someone told me the rivers were closed off and people were getting tickets. Not sure the truth to that but that's what I heard.

I have an open day tradition as I am sure lots of other guys have as well. I have been going to the same section of river every opening day for 24 years. This year I am not. I will still be enjoying the outdoors by going Turkey hunting with my 14 year old son two concessions away. I may go drift a dew worm locally as well in a couple of the little creeks in the area but I won't be travelling far from home. I have the benefit of enjoying the spring outdoor activities by leaving the driveway on a four wheeler with a shotgun or fishing rod. That in my opinion is a good compromise to keeping everyone safe and still getting out.

Great response Toolman 13. When we all pull together and stay at home (even though we are all going nuts), the sooner we will all be able to fish legally.

Voted no. I plan on using the morning to go out for turkeys instead, and then scouting out the parts of the creek where I usually fish. Like Toolman I also don't fish far from home but I know the good pools can occasionally get crowded so I'd like to check them out before fishing them. If they are desolate enough I plan on fishing them still. Worst case, there's nothing wrong with honing some of my other hobbies.
Err on the side of caution to everyone going out. I'm sure everyone knows how busy the opener can be.

I did some additional research and found a good link from the OFAH website on how certain restrictions might affect the upcoming openers.
In summary, it seems that it is still unknown how the seasons will be affected on crown land, however, each Municipality and Conservation Authority have enacted their own restrictions. Most have complete closures or restricted access, you can check for yourself here...

Fozzy47 I think you should carefully read what Toolsman is saying cause of what I understand he s still hunting in the same area and then going fishing.

I contacted the municipality and they said you were allowed as long as you followed social distancing.

Good luck to whoever decides to go out on opener. The media will be looking for the big crowds be safe. This opener I think will make or break the fishing season.
