Been using the "Turns" technique for years , not only does it change the speed of your lure but also can give a flutter down presentation with spoons and an upward rising to floating body baits some times triggering hits , then again in early spring with cold waters they some times just like dead slow and steady. don't be hesitant to experiment if you know the fish are there ..

For myself, the best part of this article was all about currents...


variable speed and zig zagging has always been effective in determining fast or slow presentations or at the very least erratic presentations

In the end though ,I have taken salmon from 1.1 mph at the ball to 4.8. so many other factors come into play and that's the challenge of fishing the great lakes. what works one day does not mean it will work on the next day
