All these derbies being cancelled is terrible news.

Most of the clubs that raise and stock our favourite species to catch (bows, browns, salmon), rely heavily on the funds raised during these derbies to keep the hatcheries going.

Might be a good idea to donate at least the cost of derby entry to your local club to help them out if you can afford it in these times.

Mike, that is a brilliant idea. I would have no problem with purchasing tickets to the 2020 derby that didn’t happen. The money goes to a good cause, maybe some raffles could take place, etc. We’re going to have to think outside the box to keep on supporting.

Most if not all of the fishing clubs have web sites you can go to and there are links for donations. As stated, the clubs may have to get creative to raise funds.
Some clubs have released all their fry early as they could not safely rear them, hopefully they have a good survival rate. Other clubs have created systems to maintain their hatcheries, such as rotating schedules where only one or two people have access for a week or two before rotating.
Good luck to these clubs!

I’ll donate my entry fee.

The derby I’m doing will have a raffle draw, money raised will be going towards one of these clubs on the Bay.
