Pops and I have been fishing lake Ontario and its tribs on the Canadian side 40 yrs now and have landed around 20 Atlanics 5-12lbs in the last 5 yrs.. All released.
Just wondering if anyone has been cathing or seeing any lately ?
Appreciate any info/stats and will forward to MNR .

I've been fishing one of the stocked rivers for 3yrs and haven't caught one yet. I was actually on the river last month when they stocked it with 5k parr. It was being done early because of covid. It's on the bucket list. Atlantics not covid. 😃

In the last two years of have been catching them during the Chinook and Coho run. In one day last year I landed 7 and saw many more. In the past I was only seeing single fish here and there but last year a saw pods of them moving up with Chinooks and Cohos. Last year gave me confidence that with proper upstream spawning access this program will work.

That's great to hear. I've heard they're very acrobatic. Cant wait to find out first hand.

I (apparently) caught one about 5-6 lbs about 5 yrs ago. I'm not a regular Lake O fishing guy so I'm not up on identifying the various types of Salmon as I should be.
I thought it was either a Coho/Chinook until I was stopped by the OPP/CO boat doing a routine safety check. They asked if I had caught anything so I showed them... they kind of went nuts. WOW...it's an Atlantic Salmon....OK...good for me I guess. Not sure I would knowingly keep another one though, as I hear they are trying to increase their stock. Guess I need to bone up on my Salmon types for the next time I venture out.
