Took the Girl Friend out Sunday morning for a fish. Was a beautiful morning with

breeze and overcast.

Fishing started off very very slow and of course with the Gf being out all the time

and catching a fish right away with in the hour she was getting frustrated and

anxious to catch one . A few hours went by and now getting close to noon all we

caught was Tan.

loll

On our way back before heading in I wanted to pull off and fish a drop I marked in

the river last week at 42 feet . I put on a Cotton Cordelle Half & Half Craw-fish

colour with a strip of orange down the belly. I was Trolling around the 42 foot mark

working the bowl and ledges of it . After Circling it a few times , finally fish on !!! 4

and half small mouth for the GF. We managed to pick up 6 more Smallies around

1.2 & 3.5 pounds. Biggest was 4.5 pounder. Fish were are released . Really good

action once we finally got on them . On our way out I also managed to hook into a

Muskie that snapped me off on a Green jig head 6" Black Mr.Twister . Got him up

to the boat and one good head shake he said goodbye to me .

Large Mouth and Walleye seemed to shut down on Sunday . Very tough fishing for

them I found !

I left the Camera on the boat . Will have to upload pictures when I get

a hold of it .

I forgot to mention the Fishing was good Towards the afternoon and evening .

But... The HungryMan breakfast in the morning @ Shelia's was Delicious

Cheer's

Dan

Great report! Thanks for sharing..
I'm glad you got the lady onto some fish.
Some days it can be tough out there.
Nice smallie for that area for sure..

I never heard of a cotton cordell half & half, do you mean a rattling spot/lipless crank bait?

Thanks Jerry ,

I may be Wrong in the name. used to my dad calling it that . Here is a picture

of it . I know I bought a few here and and then I couldn't find them any more. I

purchased them in the states .

The other colour is the Orange same style . Deadly ! loll They also have a Little

ball in them that rattles when in use .

Ahh here I found what there Called .

Cotton Cordell's Grappler Shad quickly took the fishing world by storm with its tight wiggling action that drove fish to strike. Now, Cotton Cordell introduces the next step in the evolution of the perfect crankbait -- the Jointed Grappler Shad.

I think thats the one, all I know it never fails me . loll

If any one does find them here , please PM me where to get them . I been getting

them from the states for now .

Great report. Yes, it can be frustrating at time when you can't catch anything but is nice when you can save the day. At least you get to enjoy the outdoors.

Nice lure Dan..
Looks a bit like a jointed wally diver.

How did you get it down 42 feet? I assume you weighted the line at some point.

Another great weekend!

I used Rapala Deep Tail Dancer for trolling the 30-40 ft mark. Model # TDD11

The Cotton Cordelle Jointed Grappler Shad I used for trolling around the bowl and

ledges of it. 10 - 22 ft mark. I picked up most of the fish in the afternoon around

there .

They all must have been hiding in there . loll Coolest and deepest part of the

river. The small mouth were also spitting up Cray fish . Another good technique to

keep in mind when fishing bass is to always look down in and see what there

munching on or spitting up when caught . Gives you a better idea on what to put on I

think !
