Hey guys, well I’m really into bass fishing, walleye and pike but just recently wanted to get into fishing for whitefish. No one that I know of actually fishes for them though, so I’m trying to do my research on how to start. I have an assortment of drop shot gear and jigs for bass and pickies, and just recently bought a selection of jigging raps and flatjigs as I’ve seen videos of those being used to catch Whitefish. My question is, where should I be looking to mark these fish? Am I looking for pockets in the 50’ range, or shoals at 30-40’ and surrounded by 50’+? I did read a lot about targeting mayfly larvae as they are in the water now during the spring. Any info to start my own experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
