Hey there, I have an opportunity to buy a 16 ft aluminum flat bottom boat. Just wondering if any buddy has any experience or knows the pros and cons of a flat bottom? thx

They are noisy as the bottom slaps the waves instead of cutting it. My neighbor has one and all the other cottagers comment on the noise. The are not the best in the waves (rough water) either as it doesn't cut them. Other than then these issues they are comfortable and you can carry lots.

Thanks man, it would be used on a smaller lake at a trailer park, definitely won't be speeding. I was thinking a 15 hp minimum but a 25 hp would probably work perfect to move it.

Jon boats are great small water boats. I’ve fished and hunted big water for 30 plus years and I have only owned one Jon boat. It was excellent for hunting on smaller lakes and not bad for fishing. I gave it up pretty quickly because I found even 14 foot v hulls to be more sea worthy. For your intended use I think you’ll be happy.
