Due to the weather and a few other things going on, we didn’t get our for opening day, but we did get out first thing this morning.
Went to a good sized lake that isn’t known for huge fish, but you can get lots of smaller one’s. I figured that’d be the ticket for my son and I just to get the rust out of our system.
As predicted, we caught about 30 in three hours or so, biggest was only about 2.5lbs but it still was fun.
Most fish came on a smaller Live Target frog fished in the shallow pads and eelgrass, and I caught some on a Berkley Maxscent Creature Hawg on a Tokyo rig as well. This was the first tome I’ve ever used the Tokyo rig, and I’m impressed. I put two 1/8 oz tungsten weights back to back on it, and I was flipping some pretty thick weeds and some laydowns, and never snagged once.
It was a good start to the season, and they were absolutely choking the frogs!
Hopefully things just keep getting better all year.
