1st time on Nip

Hey guys wondering if I could get a bit of help..thinking of trying nip for the 1st time for musky....just wondering what are the bad winds and speeds . Will be in the south east area near hunters bay marine. Don’t even know where to start for these big guys..thanks guys.

I've fished south bay for lunge for many years. Plenty of really big fish to be had for all. Can't give away any specific locations otherwise 15 years of experience and time on the water is wasted.
Any saddles, island tips/points, irregular shoreline or bays with good thick weed cover...coontail, pond weed (also known as cabbage), milfoil...is a great starting point.
Work the main body of the thicker weed patches and especially any weed lines or edges that drop into deeper water.
As you move out from Hunters Bay into main body of South Bay...look for any underwater reefs, small or large, particularly clusters of reefs in the same area...between reefs, the edge of reefs or right on top of reefs/shoals can all produce fish.
Watch the weather out in the open in South Bay.
Often the worst winds can come out of the NW around to the NE due to the fetch of open water they're travelling over...although, a really good blow from the W can create problems as well. Any winds 20-25 kms and up can kick up some good sized waves...depending on the size of boat you have.
Small islands, reefs, weed bars and any exposed rocky shorelines receiving direction wind and wave action are my personal favorites. Often hard to fish in a big wind...but almost always produce.
