Hey all - been a while since I posted because I have been too busy with work and family to get out.

I knew the forecast was for a scorcher and they managed to get that one right. I expected the fishing might be slow and I might have to get off the water when the temperature peaked, but since I haven’t been able to get out since bass opener it would have taken a tornado to keep me away.

Launched my kayak early - light wind and low waves - and the fish were cooperative from 6am-8am. Managed a few smallies, one walleye and went one for three on muskie during that window. Chatterbait was the ticket for me during this time.

Fishing slowed down quite a bit after this and tried to move around and find more fish, but it was a grind. Still managed to find a few smallies from time to time but no hot streaks. I had to down size to a 3” swimbait for most of my bites.

Winds picked up early afternoon which turned the bite on briefly for me and I managed four fish in eight casts - including an early afternoon walleye. Unfortunately, the winds picked up even more and between the heat, wind, and chop in my kayak I decided to call it a day.

While it was definitely hot out, I didn’t find it too bad while I was out fishing. Being in the kayak and wearing light fast drying clothing I just kept soaking a few items at a time + I brought lots of drinks and snacks.

Overall a very good day on the water - hopefully it doesn’t take me another month to get back out.

This little fella never saw me coming! Seemed super healthy, except for the eye situation. Obviously still not having an issue tracking food down...
