I don't know very much about this lake since I spend so much of my time in the Kawarthas, so I'm looking at exploring more of it than just around the river near Harrys launch or King Dragon area. I wanted to explore the northern end of Cooks Bay without taking an hour's boat ride.
I was looking at Google Earth and saw that there was a launch at the end of Osborne Rd near Roches Point. Has anyone used this ramp? Is it any good? Am I able to park there without getting ticketed? Since it appears to be a dirt/sand launch area, am I safe trying to retrieve my boat without getting stuck and having to call CAA (I don't have a 4X4)?

I ended up launching at my regular place (King Dragon). I did drive up to the ramp to check it out. There's very little parking, and it is a sandy launch and very shallow so I'd have to back the truck into the water to launch and recover so that's a no go for me. Next time out there, I'll check out either Island Grove marina or East Point marina. Thanks for the advice though. I've been reading all the threads about the parking fees and limitations around the lake. Makes me want to just forget the lake!!

Island Grove marina has a nice launch and parking, but not sure of the cost.
Your most cost effective launch on that side for non-resident is Sibbald Point Provincial park. Can be a zoo on the weekends. it's some distance to the north end of Cook's thou...
There used to be a pubic ramp in Keswick, but it's a natural mud ramp and need a 4x4. Not free anymore and not sure what they charge. Haven't been there in years.....

I have used Sibbald before. Very nice ramp. Since I fish most times during the week, the weekend crazy is a non-issue for the most part. I just don't know the lake up that way at all. I'll have to do some serious exploring.
