I am a member of a birdwatching facebook group and they are really really p##### off at this. Petitions set up , how to contact your MP etc etc . They say the birds are native to Ontario not invasive . Some say they are beneficial as they eat Goby . As someone who fishes and is also into birdwatching i cant agree with them. I have seen swarms of black clouds flying over Lake Ontario they are out of control and need to be controlled. Never smelt it but i heard stories the nesting sites are disgusting from all the guamo they leave and they destroy trees.
As others mentioned hopefully after they are shot they will be buried not left to rot because the politicians will get a backlash!!

They are native bird but they have gotten out of control. They have displaced other native bird and destroyed whole islands because the fecal matter is so acidic it kills the trees completely. Whole canopies have been lost and whole colonies of Blue Herons.

I am going to sound stupid but i got a question. Does this mean on the opener boats are going to be able to anchor in front of the islands and blast away ? cus if so i may take that day off from fishing lol

I have a hard time thinking this is going to work. I rarely see them fly close enough to me where I would be able to bring one down. And once the shooting starts I'm sure they will get wiser. Even if you pick a couple of them off are you going to leave your blind to retrieve them? People will freak if dead ones start floating to shore. It would be fun with a high powered pellet gun from a distance. (Needs to be a shotgun though) Hopefully it does work.

What are you supposed to do with them after you shoot them?
Place in pot with water, 1 onion, 1 turnip, 1 carrot, and 1 medium/large sized Stone. Simmer for 4 hours. After simmering, throw cormorant out and eat medium/large stone...
