Had limited time to get the kayak out today - had to be off the water and heading home by 11am.
I was concerned that after yesterday’s storms the fish wouldn’t want to cooperate, but wanted to get out and try my luck. Very glad I did.
On the water and fishing just before sun up. Reasonable winds and some chop on the water - got a little wet getting to my first spot but the water was warm. Overcast throughout my time on the water.
Decided to start off with a chatterbait as it was still low light. I needed the flash to get a decent pic of my first chunk of the day just after 5:30am (see below).
I did pretty well in the time that I had. The smallies seemed to be roaming with the overcast skies. I managed quite a few in a number of areas that I have found productive in the past, but normally only one per area. My most productive bait was a single tail grub (Strike King) on a darter head which also resulted in my largest of the day just before 10am (pics below).
Last fish caught at 10:38am the off the water and on the road at 11am.
