I can pick up jumbo perch anytime I want. Put a crankbait or a spinner with a worm on it on and troll through 10-15 weed beds. Perch in the 1-2 lbs range all day long.
Lake trout is where I'm having an issue. I've picked up some trolling, but jigging they aren't being very aggressive. I can get them to chase my bait, but they never hook up.

I have found a ton of whitefish this year chasing hard and making me think they are Lakers. The Lakers I have caught early morning and late evening mostly which makes sense with the super early hot summer we have been having.

Thanks for the Report Disco. Are you getting them consistently each day, or are there some days you are getting skunked?

I'm hoping that fall brings better consistency.
Pictures, dated tell the truth. No pictures, it didn't happen, just saying lol I know I'm in the same boat as the OP. This forum is usually full of pictures of great hauls which seem to be pretty non existant these days.

I am not getting out on Simcoe much but when I do I haven’t been skunked yet. The white fish chases usually are either lazy or they slash and spook off if they are not hooked. I find with the Lakers they will stick around to either be lazy or to chase several times even if they don’t hit.
If you can’t get the Lakers on the chase then pound bottom and sometimes you will get an aggression hit.

Fish where fish are-) I have been out on Simcoe deep water every weekend since the laker/whitefish opener in early May, and on some weekends I was out on water both days of the weekend. I'd usually land a laker or a whitefish or both (or skunked once every 4 or 5 outings, though-)
