Today I took the kid to try out a new lake. This one is only about 40 min up the highway from us, but when your 1/2 hour from literally hundreds of lakes, it takes a while to hit them all
This is a fairly good sized lake, with a mixed bag of species, but today we just tried for bass. Of course, it was cold, bluebird sky’s and a stiff wind all day, not exactly the best conditions to try a new lake out.
We didn’t get a ton of fish, but the ones we did get were pretty good sized. Managed several nice largemouth that crushed a topwater frog in the shallow pads, and some decent smallies on a tokyo rig creature bait off rock points and docks. Guess we’ll have to put this on on our “try again” list, maybe next time we’ll try it under better conditions to see if we can get some numbers instead of just a few.
