For the past 3 years, these have been showing up in greater numbers and impacting the fishin technique required.


this was one of about 100 spit out of a bass...Lakers are also gorging on them

Ideas????

I think the nose looks too blunt to be a smelt

Does your cottage lake have whitefish? Looks like Whitefish fry.. Maybe in 4-6 years the whitefish will be on fire!

Rest easy guys.......definately smelt


These are about 1 inch long and there are millions of them....either brought in by ice fishermen or who knows how

Drew first brought this to my attention a couple of years ago and they have been on the increase.

It's a contained lake

I sent some to OMNR last year to confirm as well, but thee were not as many then


The bass love them as do the trout, but I wonder how the lake dynamics will change as thye get to spawning sizes
