Well i decided to head out to a lake i have not fished in 3 years no monsters but some nice pan size guys were caught i released all of them hoping next year when i return they will be bigger. Still lots of fun in the canoe having the whole lake to myself and enjoying the backlakes.

Thanks sparky. I hunt and fish a little north of you. Elk Lake area. Some of the speck lakes are open all year. Hope to get some fishing in along with the moose hunt. Thanks for the info.

Thx----I am surprised they were that shallow. I knew they come quite shallow around dusk but thought they would be well down below the thermocline around midday

The lakes i fish are spring fed from the bottom so this time of year with the cool nights we have been having water temps are dropping fast also they are also fattening up before the spawn this is prime time for brook trout in my area.

Nice video Sparky. Good on you to practice some C&R. Not easy passing up on a tasty fish or two.
I have 2 in the freezer still so i let these guys go this was more a scouting trip finding the lakes i will fish next season as i really don't fish the same lakes every year i like to alternate and let the fish grow.
