I've been getting my oldest daughter into canoeing this summer. Started off small with a few beach trips, some small lakes and creeks to get used to being out there.
But with the season winding down and me having to put the canoe away up north on Thanksgiving we went for a nice trip down the notty. We launched at Klondike and started downriver. Some fall colours were showing through for some nice scenery. We always have binoculars for bird watching as well.
Came across more than a few fly, float and spinner fisherman looking for salmon /trout. One guy hauled in a nice bow in front of us, and we seen a few big salmon when we hit the fast moving water, tucked In tight behind the rocks
Stopped at the sand dunes for lunch and had a blast running up and down them. Nothing better than wasaga sand.
All in all it was only just over three hours to do, excited at the McDonald's and waited for our ride to come get us.
We will be putting the canoe one more time I think, on the south river up north, at thanksgiving when the colors are in full pop.
