No pun intended, but your name suggests all those things are not important
Seriously, I would also love to get some tips.
Ha ha,unfortunately I have been suffering from a back injury since Dec 27.. and would have put the time in but its not the case this year.. I guess I'm looking for what's hot right now. I will be jigging my a$$ off with live minnows and trolling in the afternoons most likely. The wife surprised me with some unplanned holidays thanks to her boss so she said lets go fishing, I'm down.. Cheers Dave.

Have not been on Balsam this year but on other lakes in Central Ontario walleyes are now moving into shallows and you can catch them as shallow as 4-5 FOW in weeds. I am using small jerkbaits in weed pockets but any other technique (jig, spin jig etc) should work as well. Good luck!

just did a couple very unsuccessful days on balsam - almost shocking - all 8 anglers got skunked one day. did some jigging for wallys second day and marked a tonne but could not get them to turn on at all. hopefully they are good to go now!

Did you park at the boat launch or did you have to park down a little ways.. Was told no parking at the launch by a friend..

If you launch at the Provincial park you now have to park in the trailer parking lot (100 meters away). It's not a big deal unless you forget and get a $30 ticket.

Hi there. We have been having pretty good luck with minnows late evening until dark ( The witching Hour ) i call it. Also worm harness along weed edges seem to be producing . Majority are in the slot most 16 to 18” lost a few good one and a few Muskie chasing the harness to the boat.

Flexkk Maybe I misread your reply but there is a special slot size on Balsam that people seem to not know about or don't read the regs properly. It gets brought up quite a bit on here.
Limits: S-3 and C-1; none between 37-55 cm • Balsam Lake (44°34’54”N., 78°51’10”W.) - Bexley Township, including the waters of the Gull River upstream to the dam at Coboconk, the waters of the Otonabee River (Rosedale River) between the Trent dam at Rosedale upstream to Balsam Lake, the waters of the Trent Canal between the upstream lock at Rosedale upstream to its junction with the Otonabee River (Rosedale River) and the waters of the Trent Canal between Balsam Lake and Mitchell Lake
