Hello again my friends! Oh man,if 2 pounders counted for threes ,my wall would be full of trophies! The last few outings have produced several 14 and 15 inch fish.Unfortunately the 16to 18 inch fish that I'm trying to find keep evading me year after year. One day it will happen I'm sure, maybe even this year as I am focusing hopefully on another month of the Crappie hunt before the start of freeze up.Time sure flies by though as it seems like it was only yesterday when the dingbats finally opened up the launches. With these coldwater temps the numbers of fish have been down, but the size of the fish have been larger.Heres a couple of picks from today.Bye for now and have a Crappie day!

Nice slabs, congrats and good luck with your 3 lb chase! \ I love fall post turnover fishing but the problem is that sometimes it's not easy to choose which species to go after.

Nice crappies... I saw quite a few others on your other posts as well. Good fish wow. If you are wanting to catch monster crappie balsam lake has many many many. I do not even keep crappie unless they are over 11 inches. I am looking for the record as well. I find that the biggest crappie only come out at night. Almost all my 15s 16s 17s and one 17.5 were caught at night. I have never caught a crappie larger than 15.5 during the day. But who knows for sure, most of my fishing is done after dark. I do not like the sun. Good luck looking for your next personal best.

That's interesting I must say.Ive rarely fished for them after dark.Usually start at the crack of dawn and go to eve on occasion. Been focused on this one lake for the past 12 falls, average between 3 and 5 thousand Crappies per season and have just the 1 fish just shy of 16 inches.I may have to pick up some candles, wake up pills,a lot of coffee and head to Balsam Lake! Thanks Crappee man!

Oh my. That is a lot of crappie. I work a lot so I basically get out to fish the kawarthas twice in april, may, june, july, and august. Three times in september, october, and november. I do not really ice fish so I will never get those numbers. In the spring I usually catch many many, but the amount of new crappie fisherman in the spring has increased ten fold in the last few years. There is so many boats on the water right after ice out. There are many people that do not know or do not care that the limit is thirty and you have to eat some before you fill your freezer back to thirty only. The authorities caught a boat once with four guys in it that were each over fifty. This keeps up and my favorite fish will be gone along with the walleye because people over fish them as well.

I dont think you will ever have to worry about the Crappies disappearing. The Crappie is a prolific spawner, they will lay a couple hundred thousand eggs each.I do wish they would lower the limit to a more practical # than 30.However the Walleye are a different story.Overfishing them could definitely stunt the numbers.Scugog for an example. Good luck with your record search.
