Hit Simcoe around 10am, the lake was rough with white caps and 18kmh west winds. Looked around for quite a while to locate some perch. Nothing, nada for two hrs. As i was saying "another one of those days" we finally found them around 23' of water. From that point on it was non-stop action. Two of us took home about 50 nice size eaters mixed with about half dozen jumbos. And as we were getting ready to wrap up. We had a surprise visitor. Man was it ever exciting to land this beauty with lite perch tackle. A nice, extremely slimy gator. He went back to fight another day.

Congrats on the good perch outing . Nice haul! We hit the Cooks bay yesterday and the whole day it was non stop Perch action We boated not less than 400 between two of us and kept our limits of good keepers with about a dozen jumbos

Nice!! live bait I assume? minnows?
Minnows did it for us. İ also tried plastic and caught some but nowhere near the numbers caught with live bait. When i say live it doesn't have to be alive and kicking, using half of a large minnow gets the exact same result as a whole and live minnow.

Yes, shiners and also scented plastic minnows. Bigger size minnows produced the largest perch. I think i caught more large perch on scented plastics than minnows but both were working well.

Nice! For me it was the first and i think the last open water perch trip this season, as I am more into pike, walleye bass etc.

Hmm, my plastic minnows (fin-s) weren't scented, i wonder if that's the reason why they didn't work as well as yours, or maybe you are better at fishing them, and probably that's the case . You did pretty good for one outing, congrats

Nice going all of you that got out.
Thanks, I am lucky enough to be able to go on the weekdays so I avoid the crowds in these critical times. I also don't stop anywhere along the road and keep my mask and sanitizer in the car just in case i need to interact.
