I got a late start this morning because of the rain, so I didn't get to the lake until 10am. Puttered around a few of my usual areas with no success so I went exploring with my Navionics. I found a hump in 15' with deeper water all around so I stayed there for 3 hours. Nothing for the first hour, but I notice a fish on my downvision so I stayed. Good thing too. I caught 6 smallies in about 40 minutes. Man, did they want things really slowed down!! The one pictured (4.75lb) was caught dead sticking for almost 5 minutes!
I didn't see but one other boat on the lake, and they started fishing as I was heading to the ramp to leave.

That's a beauty Smallie, I could imagine how slow the presentations need to be with this cold weather finally upon us. This time of year I find that dead sticking is my goto. I usually only fish that way in the fall, cast it out and just put the rod down and wait. Thanks for the report.

Nice fish. Same for me on Sunday - nothing that big, but got 6 or 7 1.5 pounders and this one a bit bigger. Name of the game was SLOW it down for me too. Fished the same spots over and over until I got some takers...

I was on the water from 1130-230 pm.
