I saw an automatic jigging rod holder from Cabela's, that has the ability to set the hook. I thought that this is illegal but I may be wrong. You can buy the Jaw Jacker jigging base and add the auto hook setter. Not that I would go this route but just incase someone is going to buy this set up, they should be aware.

Yeah, I like the Jaw Jacker. I also have something similar that I purchased from Canadian Tire. As Dutch said as long as it relies on the rod tension and not a spring it is legal.

I have used the jaw jacker for two years and last year I got the jigging base and love them both. For the sensitivity, there is wing nut where the trigger is for releasing the tension and you will need to play with it to get it to the right setting. For walleye I would recommend it being as sensitive as possible without having it triggered by wind (if outdoors) or extremely light bumps because it is a bit of a pain to re-set it especially if it’s outdoors and you are not.

Thank you for the tip. I am purchasing one this weekend and heading up to Nip on Jan 15-17. Looking forward to it as always.
