Hey guys! I know it’s a little late, but I figured I’d post a little report and some fish porn. Back in July I went up to Gowganda lake lodge where I’ve been 5 times now in both winter and summer. I can’t say enough about this place and the owners. If you’re on a budget and don’t want to make a crazy drive from the GTA, this is a place worth trying. They’ve got great boats on the main lake and boats stashed on a handful of other lakes and rivers in the area. As I said before, this wasn’t my first time up there and that’s for a reason!

The weather that week switched back and fourth between miserable wind, rain and scorching heat. I had my girlfriend and our 1 and half year old daughter along for the ride too. Not ideal when the weather won’t cooperate.

Anyways.... on to the fishing. The main lake is a little tough to find the walleyes, but the SMB fishing action is unreal!! I mean absolutely unreal!! One calm evening I was smashing fish on top water lures about every other cast, and not just dinks. A few absolute pigs mixed in and a handful of decent pike.

A couple of the days with stable weather we did some back lake trips. You drive down a bush road to a boat cache and unload your gear and put the motor on the boat. My favourite spot involves taking the first lake for about 3kms to a portage that’s next to a beautiful little waterfall. The next boat is waiting for you at the bottom of the falls, a short portage away. You can take the lake and river system from there for about 20km or more I believe. The scenery and fishing are worth the trip. Lots of bass, walleye and pike to fill the day!

I could go on and on about our week there, but I think you get the idea.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the pictures!
