Hi all,
Purchased a sled in Cochrane and will be picking it up December 30th. Figured I'll take advantage of the opportunity to fish a few days until Jan 5th since the area should have safe ice.
Would anyone be willing to private message me a few lakes that would be worth trying? I'm a catch picture release fisherman that lives in Mississauaga and always cleans up garbage after other people when I fish locally. I mention this because your spot will remain pristine and confidential, would respect and never disclose. Im interested in all specieis Lakers, splake, rainbows, brookies, walleyes, whitefish, etc. Just looking for good action / size.

Fish-online is a great tool for finding some stocked lakes and potential others. After that, look at access and use google earth. It's easy to tell which lakes get fished if the sat images are taken in the winter, you'll see the sled tracks. You're far enough North that it's more of a matter and which species you plan to target more than likely you'll catch them. Don't overlook live bait. Most Simcoe techniques or "southern" techniques get out-fished on some of these lakes to a simple minnow on a spreader or bucktail with minnow. Also don't discredit the fact that you're driving through a ton of other good country on your way back down depending which way you drive up. If it was me and I had a sled I would be touring coming back down and going spot to spot to spot. Just remember to check your regs as you go. There's a lot of slot sizes to follow as well as varying seasons depending on natural or stocked lakes etc. Don't forget if you're alone and its midweek you may not see other guys on these lakes for a few days, bring food, picks and matches. Never hurts to pack a survival kit if anything happens. You'll most likely be out of cell service 4-6Km from a highway.

Thanks for the responses gents, some very good points mentioned so thank you kindly. I'm familiar with fishonline and have a list together but was hoping for some local intel as some lakes fish better than others and it would help shorten the list to better prospects to focus on. Nonetheless I'm sure it'll be a great time out in the wilderness!
