Just sitting in the office at home tonight, thinking about Florida. This is the first time in maybe 8 years that I haven't spent Thanksgiving with my daughter in Tampa. Yes, I drag my boat down there and spend part of those 3 weeks on the lakes in the area or playing golf, but most of the time I was at her apartment or we went out somewhere for dinner together or someplace else. She moved from an apartment complex to a townhouse this past summer, so I was looking at a vacation rental for the time down there because of available parking in her driveway for the truck and boat trailer. Then came Covid-19 and border closures. We spent a couple of hours this past Thanksgiving on a video chat, but it just wasn't the same. She's my only living blood relative left now so I miss her even more. My only solace right now is the vaccine. I know it's not a fast cure-all and it's going to take a lot of time for enough people to have it done to make a significant difference, but hopefully soon the number of infections will start to subside enough for me to make at least one more trip down there.

Much respect. Only living blood relative. Hop on a plane sir and enjoy.
Thanks PP. My wife and I have been almost hibernating in the house for a while now because I have respiratory issues and don't want to take unnecessary chances. I can wait for late spring or later to see her.

Unfortunately these are the times of today. Its horrible and your not alone.
It'll be great when we dont have to be worried about visiting & giving our friends and family a big hug once this is all over. Definitely something I wont be taking for granted going forward.
Wishing you and your family a happy holiday season, good health and the strength to pull through these hard times.

Really sorry to hear that. These are nightmarish times. I know you can’t, but at least Canadians have the option of flying to America.
This is the first time in 53 years that my families have not gone to Rice Lake. Feels like we are missing our second home. We always go twice a year. Sure hope this vaccine works and we can get back to normal.

Hey Lionel, so sorry to hear about this. Unfortunately, this year has been very challenging for everyone. I know how hard it must be for you to not be able to travel down to Florida. It must be tough not being able to hold and hug your babygirl but thankfully you were able to speak to her for. She must be so sad as well.
Also, I know how much you enjoy fishing over there and giving us those detailed reports and we also always look forward to reading them.
Stay strong my friend and hopefully soon things will normalize again.

Thanks for the uplifting thoughts. We talked for a while a couple of days ago and it turned out that she was feeling the same way on that night. Anyway, I know things will get better again soon. I refuse to think that I won't see her again! Not happening!!!
