As I can't go fishing, I'm looking to see what new products or ideas for ice fishing are out there. I bought two new inline reels (Pfleuger combo which is really sweet and a freefall XL on a fenwick elite rod). I got me a striker ice rod locker and a Flambeau bunk box (I have a lot of rods). I also bought an Aqua view 4.3 micro camera.
I have tried a jaw jacker, a beaver dam tip up, a balance tip up from Caseys, and a couple of others but I have yet to get anything on them. Having said that, I prefer jigging anyway, so I don't spend much time with any of them or really tested them yet. Location is critical, so part of the problem is where I go.
I recently found one that may do what I want. Bullnose tip downs are made of metal, and work very similar to a balance tip up. they come with an attachment for your rod, and then it just sits there and you wait for the rod tip to move (up or down). You use your reel to work the fish, it doesn't set it for you, but I think a better alternative to handlining. I bought two, so hopefully this one will work for me. Does anyone have any experience with these? It seems like a fairly new product. I will post if get anything with it, are at least how well it should work once I try it on the ice.
