Looks like you had a great day on the ice....congrats on quitting....this year marks 30 years for me. The day after I quit I was going on a 1 week business trip with 47 union reps.....damn I thought I must be crazy to quit at this time especially after failing to quit at previous times. I was quitting while on the patch. Well I made it through day 1 and said to myself....if you can make it through that you can make another day and I did......I used every day I made it through as a stronger crutch to finally beat my addiction to tobacco. Will you have urges along the way.....yes you will but those urges will grow further and further apart.....remain strong through those times and you will have this beat.....wish you success.

When I stopped smoking, I didn't say I was quitting. I didn't tell people I was quitting... that seemed like too big a deal to live up to, too much pressure. I simply said to myself that the next smoke I wanted, I wasn't going to have. Delay it. Put it out of my mind. And then the next time I wanted a smoke, I wouldn't have it.... and so on. I actually had cigarettes in the cupboard as a mental safety net type thing...if I ever really 'needed' one, they were close by. Actually wasn't that hard. I still like the smell occasionally when someone near me smokes, but it's been around 7 or 8 years I guess. Never want one any more .

Congrats on the Walleye!

And more importantly on quitting smoking. For me I quit 16-17 years ago and it was the only major habit I had that started late in high school to be with the cool kids. Looking over past pictures from the past I always had my hand behind my back, as I was holding my smoke back there. Over the years I was the only one in my group of friends that smoked but that still didn't stop me. I had friends at work that tried to quit and after watching them try and try, I thought to myself I won't both unless I had a good reason to quit. I was a pack a day smoker and 2 packs if I went drinking and no reason to quit.

Years later I decided to try Zyban as a few of my friends at work tried it with some success. Having a drug plan at work I said why not try it. They recommended to continue to smoke for 2 weeks while on it but I continued to smoke for a month. It got to the point that after a smoke break, I had to wash my hands as I couldn't stand the smell of the smoke off my hands. Lunch time have a few mores smokes and then back work, again had to wash my hands. I couldn't stand the smell of the smoke on my hands.

I'm happy to say that after smoking 33 years I was able to quit as I couldn't stand the smoke on my hands. I had no issues taking a break with the guys during their smoke breaks and I had the urge, but no desire to start again because it bothered me to have the smell of smoke on my hands. My wife also a smoke tried Zyban a year later and also quit.

I have to also say that five years after quitting, I was playing a round of golf with work associates and after a few beers they were lighting up a smoke. I broke down and asked for one. I lit up and to my surprise it was like I never quit, which worried me. However after smoking half the cigarette I had to put it out as it tastes like crap.

Since then I have a couple of occasions on vacations and drinking that I've picked up a smoke and even bought a pack. But after drinking, I was able to stop with no issue and be smoke free. For me Zyban was so easy to quit I wish I tried it sooner.

Ya I started in high school also hard to believe it’s been 23 years of smoking well up to day 6 not a puff. I work outside so it has always been easy to smoke a pack a day just trying to stay busy lol working so far and gum lol.
