Agree or not is a mute point. Do you want to risk a $880 fine is the real question.

There’s nothing more healthier physically and MENTALLY than being outdoors fishing or hunting!!! F-ck’m I’ll be on the ice!! An $880 fine is a scare tactic!! There’s no way any Officer would issue a fine to a person wanting to get out for some mental health..

Indeed this topic needs to be addressed right away. If someone can go local cross country skiing or on long dog walks Then a 10 minute drive to the ice should be equal. Do what I just finished doing - walk out half a km, hand auger several holes through 10 1/4 “ of ice . That’s decent exercise! On top of that at home for dinner.

Looks like the article went out before the new rules as it states as long as the huts are booked by Dec 26th its o.k to go.That was a prior rule and I doubt it applies any more. I do understand both sides and the extreme need to protect lives vrs freedoms and jobs.

I can see this new order being much like the Spring Lock Down, Municipalities will likely close access and parking to the lakes. Which in turn shuts down fishing, like it did this past spring, however a few who have private access may still be able to get out. It's somewhat confusing right now but I'm pretty sure communities are not going to put up with massive crowds of ice fishermen invading their parks and access points during this lock down.

I HOPE THIS HELPS!
I just spoke to the Premiers office.
Long story short. Fishing in OPEN. However, travelling outside of your region to fish is a violation of the Stay at Home Oder. There are no actual travel restrictions laid out in the Province. However, ticketing is up the the local municipalities. They suggest to call the local health unit if you plan on travelling, but again its up to that areas officer discretion to ticket you or not.
All you northerners lucked out big time!! I'll be hoping for cold weather for some local ice.
