Used to fish up there 20+ years ago.
There was a guy up there named Jamie. He must have had 15 - 20 huts that rented out. He and his family ran a small gas station across from the post office.
Havent been able to find him since we left the area back then & heard he moved out east.
Was pretty decent when we ice fished up there. Id like to get up there again but would rather go with an outfitter as Ive always heard that ice could be sketchy if you dont know where your going.
If anyone knows of any operators, Id be happy to get their contact info.

I grew up in Waub. I knew Jamie and his operation! He used to take me and my daughter out (she was 6 years old in '98), come back to check on us girls, even brought us soup lunch one time. That particular time my daughter pulled up her first pike -- a 3-pounder, through the hole, by hand, lol. All we had those days were notched-out sticks and a gaff, lol. Great fun. Good guy. Had a good little business there. Those were the days <sigh>, when the Bay actually would freeze up early.
Fast-forward to 2019: I ran into him at Trombly's here in Orillia. He did mention he was somewhere East. Thanks for the little trip down memory lane!

Posted the link below a few days ago on Lake Simcoe tab but thought I'd repost here, as it's interesting to note the Georgian Bay variances over the years. Just heard about the sleds going through -- first thing I said was, "Let me guess -- Robin's Point?" I can't figure it out -- are these break-throughs happening to over-confident locals or out-of-towners who are unfamiliar with the area? Robin's Point, every year . . . sadly, a tragic occurrence. Always disturbing news.

This is very cool thanks for posting it dogriverone. I am from out west and I never would have thought the middles of the Great Lakes would ever freeze over. Am I seeing that right? That there is %100 ice coverage on some years?

Waub is my summer fishery......I have a trailer with Bay access in a park there....have fished it in the winter time but it is a much different fishery in the cold.....might get the odd pike or in dim dusk around 4pm a story pickerel. I have fished that area in the summer for 39 years,
