I was planned on fishing tomorrow but after hearing about the state of emergency starting Thursday and not knowing if travelling to fish is allowed I decided to go today instead. My daughter has a spare this quadmester so she was eager to come along. We got to the river around 10:00 and she found a pocket of active fish right away .She hooked three in twenty minutes and landed them all. They ranged in size from four to six pounds, all silver fish. It took me a while to get going but I hooked the next two in the same area landing the first but hothead hook popped free on the second much bigger fish.
We walked the river and I showed her some different areas and told stories from years past. A couple hours of this warmed us up so we headed back to our starting point where I hooked our last fish which was a four pound hen with a weird hump on its back.
We quit fishing at 3:00 and walked back to the truck. Hopefully we can continue to fish through this state of emergency as the steelheading makes the winter pass . Either way it was great to get out even if your own kid outfishes you....she certainly is a quick study.
