Dude! Just do the right thing. How many goddamn fish do you need. Go fishing, keep a few for a feed, let the rest go and maybe you’ll have something to catch next time. It’s not like this is the 1600’s and we need the fish to survive the winter

When my freezer is empty, I am always trying to push the limits but never, ever am I going to go over the limits. Why would I or anybody unless I don't give an ish about nature, the fishery or anyone else.

There is a little more to this as well. In some cases there are separate catch and possession limits but these are the same for fish caught in Nipissing. This means as Shank pointed out and assuming you have a sport fishing licence and in the case of walleye that once you have two keepers over 46cm in the cooler to go home you are done. Keeping another fish puts you over the limit. Your buddy is allowed the same assuming he also has a sport fishing licence. You can eat your two fish and get two more assuming you find several larger fish. If you got your wives a conservation license they would only be allow 1 walleye over 46cm each that they catch. If they get sport fishing licenses they would both be allowed to catch and possess 2 walleye over 46cm. Perch have a catch and possession limit of 50 with a sport licence and 25 with a conservation licence.
Catch and possession limits
The catch limit is the number of fish you are allowed to catch and keep in one day and includes fish that are not immediately released and any fish eaten or given away. Catch limits apply to each individual and any fish gifted to another person count towards your catch limit even if they are gifted to a member of your fishing party.
The possession limit is the number of fish you are allowed to have in your possession on hand, in cold storage, in transit, or anywhere. Possession limits are the same as one day’s catch limit except where otherwise specified. If you catch a fish after reaching the daily catch or possession limit for that species, the fish must be released immediately. If the limit is zero, anglers may practice catch and release only, and any fish caught must be released immediately

I don't think so.
You are correct Limacharley and I should clarify. You can only catch and keep two fish on any particular day. Even if you eat the two caught on the same day you have still reached you daily catch and possession limit but can catch and keep two more fish the next day. So on and so forth.

Its one limit for each person with a licence. I'm not 100% on what you were asking but yea, your licence only works for you.
Also, no offence but if you only go out once a year catching your limit is wishful thinking. This is just my opinion, but you really don't need to keep your limit even man. Our regulations do not result in sustainable fishing in the first place. So don't try and find loopholes and don't try and fill your freezer every chance you get, unless you're genuinely starving without the fish, practice catch and release once in a while.

Thanks for all the response fellows. How many of you local fellows who go out numerous times a week might be pushing the limits on regulations. As for your second question in regards to others who fish often and may be bending the rules,my answer to you is look after your own house! Hope this helps.
For a guy that goes fishing once a year ,you really have a lot of nerve to ask a question like that.Dont be so chintzy, buy your wife a licence.Problem solved!
