I guess if people cannot be respectful to the neighbours of access points and noise bylaws then they get what they get. A little common courtesy would go a long way.

Do you think just maybe a tad exaggerated.Blood ,oil ,dead animals, drunks.etc I go there regularly and have never seen any of the mentioned. Its been there for 50 years without complaints ,including Radar runs. Its the point i mentioned this morning with the snowmobile trails and whamo ,there you have it. The main issue Imo is this year trucks are Not driving out so the lake is full of parked vehicles. That and Covid. The noisy snow machines come from motels and other locations and run on the Snowmobile trail that runs along the shoreline. These racing machines make Noise.Same as the Loud modified Trucks and motorcycles we put up with.I'm sure there are issues but this is blown Way out of proportion.

I would hope that due diligence is done before closing an access point and not just taking the word of neighbours. As for putting up with noisy trucks and motorcycles many communities are clamping down on this too. Perhaps that should be done up here as well.

fisherman, i brought up the noise as people modify bikes and more so trucks now. They are super loud.Funny thing is they don't do it right.Theres more to it then sticking on straight exaust pipes.Bikes need carb mods and air flow adjustments. These loud vehicles are made worse as they stomp on the gas burning more fuel and trying to get power that isn't there,Just noise, Cool nope, just silly and annoying

Yup, loud noise and power is in empty heads. Usually run by short sticks and small jewels if you get the hint.

A very exaggerated and self serving point of view in my opinion.
It is only a couple of weekends of the year and it is PUBLIC property that everyone has the right to enjoy. Some value to my tax dollars. Lets not forget the economic spinoff to North Bay business'.
In fairness to that Complainer those muffler cans on the new sleds are becoming a big problem. The are really loud.

This issue would get resolved if the city of NB opened up more access points to the lake where one could drive their truck and trailer to offload near the shoreline.

Yes because there's not enough parking at Sunset Park proper.

I am not prone to pointing fingers if I think the perpetrators might figure it out for themselves.
In this case it is both the daytime and night windshieldless crowd with expansion chambers on their 2 strokes in combination with "twitchy" throttle thumbs or 4 strokes with cans.
You can pick them out with their backpacks. PLLEASE these are not fishermen and they annoy all but their closest noise making friends. I can easily hear them blasting along the shoreline at night and I live 5 blocks back of the lake.
While fishing we make fun of them when they bark and back off the throttle just to make noise.
I watch sleds being trailered to the lake at 5:30pm just for shoreline blasts and understand non sledder's angst.
All that being said I walk the dog daily on the lake and it finds garbage if it is there and it is a disappointed dog. No body parts, no blood, one 500ml plastic bottle in a week and the dog was ecstatic for the toy.
Sled riders, fewer than I have ever seen during the day stay away from walkers and dogs and one in 15 is obnoxiously noisy and riding over 50kph. All are riding well out from shore thus being safe.
The "wet paint" property owner's broad taped barrier at Sunset draws attention to the property owner. Sunset has always been incredibly busy on weekends, particularly when the drags are set up. They are not this year. Tourists are not here to fish or to sled. The lake is incredibly quiet other than the notable minority of noise makers.
Last Thursday I saw the OPP (2 OPP on sleds) stop a noise maker when he/she was winding up coming from Sunset. It was a lenghty interview from the looks of it. Maybe more of that is required as those machines are the ones that get OFSC trails closed on private lands.
Stock snowmobiles and ATVs/UTVs are incredibly quiet, especially the fancy new ones we see but exhaust modifications can make them a problem. We need to nip this in the bud but Sunset is what it always was and we can make it better for all users if we can put stock mufflers on machines and run them in a reasonable manner in proximity to shore.
