I know everyone is eager to get out and with the cold last week, people ought to think that most of Simcoe should be safe. Well that is not the case. This year has been a disaster waiting to happen on the lake and some people have already experienced that. Figured since I had this information I would share it in hopes of maybe saving someone from a really bad day.

A close friend launched a drone today at 9th Line Oro (West side - between 9th and 10th) to take a look at the ice). As you will see it is dangerous and nightmare like for now and the future with lots of open water.

This is the satellite view. The drone helps give you some perspective of the big floating island in the main lake.

Thanks for the realistic footage. No ice is safe ice. Not a great year for ice out there!

It’s a bit frustrating this year how much evidence people need of the open water after the wind! No ice is safe ice yes! but no ice is open water. It’s f ing open water people. Jesus...not ice that might be unsafe, it’s not ice at all! Satellite shows same thing but thanks for the close up drone footage to drive if home! I’m hopeful though since people must be getting the idea since it’s been over 48 hours since somebody drove into open water. The things we strive for make me sad sometimes...
