Hello all,
just recently found out that bowfishing and netting is allowed in Ontario !! [for Carp]

but cant seem to find more info about it. is the bow considered a firearm in this case and the firearm laws apply to it ? Boat engine off or out of water ?

az an example, can I bowfish off my boat in Toronto Harbour for example ?

Any advice is appreciated, or if you can point me to the right direction.

Call the MNR for clarification. Then check the municipality for bylaws regarding fire arms use.

See page 16 of the 2021 Ontario Fishing Regulations. There's a brief section on bow fishing including the season start and end dates for specific zones. It also makes reference to longbows being a Firearm under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act.
