Lake Lauzon, Getting close!!

When I was in falconry school in England, the instructors had several raptors along with the buzzards that we were using (Americans refuse to refer to them as buzzards, they like to call them hawks). Then had a bald eagle as well as a golden eagle, both of which they use in falconry as well as the "business" of breeding them. As students we had to help clean out their enclosures and since I was the biggest guy there I had to carry both of the eagles to a perch set up in the yard. BIG BIRDS up close!!

I had a chickadee land on my hat when I was fishing near Fenelon Falls. Does that count as a close encounter with a predatory bird. LOL

And the adventure comes to an end. It's time to pack up and head back to civilization and reality!

I spent most of the morning and a lot of the afternoon roaming around an area that one of the locals told me about. The wind was still up so it made boat control a bit of a challenge at times. I didn't get into any of the larger females this time either, but I did manage to catch 21 of the smaller males who were as fiesty as heck.

This lake isn't overly huge, but man is it deep. i would venture to say that more than half of this lake is deeper than 100', and a lot of that is deeper than 200'. I've been told that some of the lakers and muskie caught here are massive. In three days, i've seen a couple of muskie cruising under my boat that were over 40" long and seemingly unconcerned about my boat's presence.

It was a total blast here. The cabin is really nice and well furnished. Unfortunately because of Covid the choices of eateries was limited and all take-out. I was looking forward to some of the local food places instead of chain restaurants. The owners were a joy to be around. They tried to make it a memorable stay and I'd say did succeed. If I still have my boat next season, I will be back.

Glad to hear you had a blast. Wind is always a tough one depending on how much you get. It sure sounds like you had a good adventure. Not a whole lot has changed in the world since you left. But today is like the first day of fall. COLD and WET.

Thanks guys. The local guy there told me that I was about 2 weeks too early for the big ladies to come in from the deep. They're probably still suspended over deep water (I'm talking 200ft+!!).
I did have to turn on the furnace last night as it got down to 39° last night. I didn't feel too bad when I got home and heard not far from here in Richmond Hill they got some big wet flakes and Newmarket area got some lawns covered!!
