Splake, Mystery insect

My son and I welcomed the open water Saturday by splake fishing two different lakes. The lakes were wide open except for a rim of ice on shaded north facing shorelines. We fished in t- shirts and accessed the lakes by logging road and four wheeler with the canoe on top. The roads were really soft with frost coming out and we had to pull a tourist out that had his Subaru sunk to the axles. Take caution and let the roads firm up before you attempt them in a vehicle.
We caught one splake that had these bugs inside.... the same bugs they were feeding on at last ice three weeks ago. Can anyone positively identify them and how would you duplicate them in a fishing situation? Thanks in advance.

Look like small crayfish.

I can’t identify them but try drop shotting a tiny nymph fly to duplicate the presentation, a fly shop might help you identify those bugs

Don’t quote me but I think they are fresh water shrimp. We would find them in the lake trout we caught north of Sault Ste Marie.

Freshwater Shrimp, maybe scuds.... one thing is for sure... fish that have diets rich in these guys have the most glorious meat, should be bright orange.

Their probably not, but id say freshwater shrimp. I've done really well with micro jig and small plastic freshwater shrimp imitation for lake trout. First time i tried them, I was out for lakers and had marks that would slow follow, but wouldn't commit. I thought they were finicky whitefish, so I put the smallest jig I had with the plastic shrimp down the hole. Half an hour later, I iced 4 lakers.

100% fresh water shrimp also commonly called scuds.

You can duplicate them with tiny shrimp flies which you can make or buy.

Thanks for help guys. I’ll try to find a fly or jig to duplicate them as we are trying a couple more lakes in the next few days.
