This afternoon Bonnie C. did a news conference announcing that all of Peel region is accepting vaccine appoints from everyone over 18. Part of the question period afterwards she did a plea to Uncle Doug to lift the restrictions on outdoor sports activities, stating that safe activities shouldn't be restricted for the physical and mental health of Ontarians. Let's see how far this one goes because they don't see eye to eye on quite a few things.

My feeling is they will extend it through the long weekend in May..I think of it opens back up before so many will be itching to do something away from home..

manitoba premier lays it on the line. It would be great the hear Ford talk like that---and MEAN it
“There is a small, selfish minority of people that aren’t doing their part,” he said, “and in doing so, they’re putting the health of themselves and others at risk.”
“You will pay your fine. And if you do not, you will not be driving your car. We will not issue you a driver’s licence. You can put your car up on blocks and you can leave it there until you pay your fine. And if you don’t drive, we will garnish your wages.”

People Not doing their part....... what like Ford not properly protecting long term care residents when this started? Or Trudeau not protecting all Canadians even though military intelligence and Health officials gave him the intelligence to do the right thing. Or would it be other levels of government crowding people into supermarket chains and big box stores while shutting down small stores causing more crowded indoor spaces where Covid spreads are the worst.
People not doing their part? Even when government officials are given hard facts they play a political game not a health game. People not doing their part are our government officials.

What you say is true but what the premier says is also true. To coin a phrase---2 wrongs don't make a right. The minority of turkeys, whether as small as he says or not, who blatantly ignore the rules are making this worse. I am glad to see that the anti-mask yahoos are getting ticketed.
I totally agree that the political 'leadership' has been abysmal at all levels. Many of the rules don't make sense and there have been too many cases where they have broken the rules themselves. That, in itself, encourages non-compliance.

I agree completely.
Politicians made rules and broke them themselves which some people took as an indication to just not follow the rules. Good leaders lead by example but our political leaders don’t seem to know this.
I am 100% for PPE, essential worker protection and workplace protection. I also believe in not having large gatherings. I do not for one minute believe in closing or restricting Crown land usage or any outdoor activity that is not team oriented. Camping over night does not spread Covid or fishing or hunting, etc, yet municipalities try to restrict those activities even if you are within your zone.

I'm a bit stumped by the reaction to the extended outdoor activities restriction by Uncle Doug. What's concerning me is the apparent lack of public reaction from boaters and fishermen. Granted, the hard-core fishermen are (I believe) vastly outnumbered by the same group of hard-core golfers, but it just seems that the golfers are a lot more vocal about having the courses closed than the fishermen for having marinas and a large number of public ramps shut down. Or maybe I'm just missing something. I haven't heard or seen any public outcry by fishermen and recreational boaters/jet skiers as I've seen/heard from golfers. I know that fishing itself hasn't been prohibited like golf has been for several weeks. People have still launched their boats and gone fishing, people are still fishing from shore, and boaters/jet skiers are still leaving from their personal docks on lakes to do their thing. Golfers don't have that option, so I suppose they are a bit more vocal about it. Wassup?

I think fishing not being discussed as much publicly is a good thing. The less attention the better. Waterways are for everyone to access. Municipalities can shutdown ramps but can't stop people from fishing when you get on the water.
Also, since golfing requires green fees thus there are direct financial interest involved and they tend to be more vocal as a group.
