I got a new boat this year and its equipped with two electric downriggers. I've fished all my life but never with downriggers. I'm looking for a recommendation for what weight to start with. I would use the downriggers mainly in Lake Ontario. From my research I think 10 Lb is where I'd start but would love to hear some recommendations.

12lb. fish type “balls” are a great start. They track well and you can give the tail a little tweek so they will track away from the boat. Good luck, and make sure you buy quality releases to insure good hookups!!
