I was invited to talk at a lake association for a board meeting (for something completely unrelated) and during the opening discussion the talk turned to lake levels. The lake stewards on the call all agreed that the guidance from the ministry is that some bodies of water will hit a 30 year low this year. According to the CEWF and TSW websites, the drawdown will have started a few days ago (to balance water flows and levels) and many lakes will lose a foot of water by the weekend. This is ahead of what is predicted to be a very dry summer with Haliburton/Minden/Dysart planning complete bans on fire (and fireworks) for the duration.
If you live in the area, here is the haliburton draw down table.
