Finally got out again on Lake O.

A week ago I went two days with out landing anything over a Shaker. Lost some good fish the second day but they wouldn’t stay pinned.

Yesterday I took a good buddy who had never gone before.
We hit the water and were rigging by 5:00. I set my only rigger down 115 in 150’ and put on a cheater spoon. I turned my back to set a dipsey and off went the rigger right away. My buddy was first up and I handed him the rod. Of course I run a mooching set up for my rigger as I am a big fan of one to one fights with the fish.
My buddy had no idea how to handle a mooching reel or rod so it was trial by fire. He did amazing and even though he had some issues fighting the fish it stayed pinned and he had an amazing fight.
What a great start to a great day, we went 8/11 on fish. 1 Coho, 1 Steelhead and the rest Chinooks.
We stayed longer than we should but got caught in the rain big time. Everything was soaked but we managed to get back safe and sound just very very wet.

First fish on the day.

Ultra FAT Coho.
This one kicked some butt but we got it. My buddy having no previous experience on a net made it interesting but he got it in. He tried to net it tail to head (which I was old him not to🤪). He was so excited he his mind blanked. The Net hit the tail and the Coho exploded forward getting caught between the transom and the motor thrashing hard in the eddy crated by the boat. Some how my buddy jammed the net in and more trapped the fish then netted it and somehow the prop didn’t get in the net.

All in all he got the fish and we laughed about it later. Not right away mind you. 😂

Scary when it happened for sure.

Really funny now after everything was ok.

Great fish. That netting sequence sounds like an emotional roller coaster though.

Great fish. I'm heading down there on Monday for 3 days of fishing Lake Ontario. I hope to join in on the action.

Wow, they are still out in 150' right now? I would have thought they were at least in at 70-80 FOW by now. Also, 115' down? Wow. Is this where the good temp is right now? Surprised you weren't pulling up lakers.

Maybe you're getting the ones that aren't coming into the river. Did the kings have hook jaws and black mouths?

Where did you launch? I'm heading to Whitby on Monday, which will be new to me, because typically I launch at Port Credit.
