Slow day out there. Marked a goodly number of fish but only 2 lakers committed.
First was 4.5lbs on silver/blue Freedom Herring Cut Bait, behind a silver/blue Agitator flasher. Came 80ft down in 125fow. We intended to release it, but despite keeping it in the net at the side of the boat while we removed the hooks, it would not revive.
Second was around 5lbs and came on a Luhr Jensen Shoehorn spoon, watermelon pattern. It also came in 125fow and the ball down 80ft. We didn't net it, just brought it to the side of the and got the hooks out and away it went.
We had lines down before 7:30 and pulled rods at 1:00pm.

Hi SDC, I'm currently based on Honey Harbour area and interested in fishing for Steelhead and Salmon. I understand the fish migrate east later in the season. I'm certainly not looking for specifics of any given area, just wondering at what port I should launch the boat at this time of yr.

Thanks in advance bud.
Cheers,
Hi Fozz
I don't know your area, to know where the deep water is for salmon.
I go out of Collingwood all the time.
People talk about the "hole" and the "islands", but I don't know where they are in relation to HH.

Thx SDC, I've heard and read about the "Islands" and the "Hole" as well, but have no clue as to where they are. Maybe I'll ask a local bait shop, maybe they will know. I have my 16' Starcraft (with a 60 Merc) on a trailer so I can really launch anywhere.

Easy way to find the hole is look for all the boats with downriggers in one spot lol.
When the surface temps are so high those lakers have alot of trouble reviving, you can freeze some big ice blocks and half fill you live well, dump in the ice and then you have a great laker reviver. Thanks for the report SDC, tons of fish in the water but they are tight lipped this year!

Fozzy Go North of Penetang and you will see Gin Islands and then go towards Giants Tomb and you will see the boats circling for salmon. Get in line and circle the hole....lol. I am also told there are. salon around Hope and Beckwith Islands but have never ventured that far.
