new boat order?, aluminum of stainless prop?

I am looking at buying a new boat, a little bigger so that I can bring my grandkids. There is an option to upgrade the prop to stainless steel, but I was told by an "expert" that I shouldn't go stainless as it could break the shaft of the motor. Seems a bit fishy to me, so I though t I would check with people I have never met (I have met some of you), but have experience with both. The quote was with stainless, but I can save a few busk going backwards.

The boat will be a Lund Rebel XL, with a 60hp and flip down jump seats. The best news is that my wife agreed to a new one ("It's for the family, Dear" , works every time).

In my opinion unless you are performance guy, an aluminum prop works fine. I'd rather have a dinged prop as opposed to extra force on the lower unit etc. I do think you get a couple of mph more with a S.S. prop.
Just my thoughts, and I could be corrected.

Save your money with a 60 hp wont be much if any difference and if you should hit something aluminum will be more forgiving than stainless. I run a 1875 impact with 150 and aluminum prop does all I want it to do. Enjoy the boat with the kids make memories.

Congrats on your boat upgrade and I also believe aluminium will be good enough and on a 60 HP stainless steel would not make much difference in performance.

I have to agree aluminum will be fine on a 60HP motor i bought a new boat in 2019 with a mercury 115 pro xs it came with an aluminum prop but i had to switch it out as the torque of these larger motors will flatten the prop causing loss of speed and an increase in RPM. In your case you will be fine and most hubs stainless or aluminum are meant to fail if something is hit.
