The lady was so tough today. I was out with a close friend and my Dad.
Searched so many of my go to holes and saw so many boats grouped up catching nothing but sinks.
After many hours of searching I hit one of my last resort favourite spots.
Drop shoting a Impact Baits mini shot in the Simcoe Candy colour finally got us into some fish. We put a live well full of nice eaters into the boat for my close friend and kept just enough for a meal for myself and my family.
Best catch of the day was my buddy getting a melanistic perch with amazing colouring. I wish I took a pic of the other side as it was all blotches all over with no bars.
Strangest catch was getting a freaking huge goby on my mini shot. I have never caught a goby on an artificial. It actually hit really hard which was a shock.

Really nice fish you caught, the pictures turned out great. It is too bad that goby have invaded the lakes. I have killed quite a few on sturgeon, disgusting fish.

She was a tough old girl yesterday. Spent the day on Cooks Bay on my kayak and couldn’t buy a nibble until I was on my way back in to shore (and getting dark fast).
Saw the same large grouping of boats and wondered if they were on the Perch. Paddled near them at one point and it was eerily quiet.
Btw Disco thanks for the recommendation on those Impact Baits. I picked up a few bags in the Simcoe Candy, Goby, and Candy Crush colours.
Now I just need to get back out there today and find the jumbos. Those are some nice pics 👍👍.

Robo I am sure I saw you just off Crates marine area.
It was still pretty choppy then and I went by you going toward the fingers just north of that big pack of boats.
The fishing for everyone was terrible from what I hear.
Hope you get a bunch of fish on those Mini Shots. They really are fantastic bait. 👍🏻

was out on Tuesday , in my inflatable 12 footer and 8hp Johnson , got a nice bunch to keep, plus 2 cats ,used a pickerel rig , white plastic with a minnow and a goby and black plastic jig with a minnow ,then down to half a minnow , constant catches from 11 to 3:30 ,then stopped , got surrounded by quite a number of dudes in their fancy boats , too much talking for me ,had to move , so they are there , also used a Fenwick 5 ft light rod , like ice fishing PAY ATTENTION TO THE ROD TIP !!

Works out for me, because it makes the lake trout bigger
Also, serious question - Does it matter which type of bait setup you use for perch? Every time I decide to get into them, I drop a worm and a hook and literally pull up as many as I want. They never seem too picky.

I find live bait will catch way to many tiny perch.
I use artificials only as I really don’t want to catch small perch.
